well, it's about time

to share our most recent family photo

at the arch

and
to share that we have officially moved!
Did the Arch in the background give it away?

packing up

Sometimes I still feel like we are on a vacation-Jeremy, who is two and a half weeks into an intense summer greek class, would disagree with the whole "feels like we are on vacation" feeling.

So what do we think about living here?

Well, I kind of feel like we have just "kinda" moved. Our stuff is in storage until our apartment is ready in August. We have a sweet sub-lease situation for the summer and some pretty great next-door neighbors too! I even went to a little hang-out craft-night with some neighbors (me: clapping hands excitedly about this). Now back to the fact that our stuff is in storage. While we were packing up our house, I was SUPER careful to sort the essentials, all of the things we would want to bring with us into our sub-lease. The essentials included things like clothes, toiletries, camera, fabric, sewing machine, craft supplies etc. Towards the end of all the packing, we were kind of in a packing daze which meant we were not really concerned if something from the kitchen was put in a box with something from a bedroom. I think that is how my phone charger and the cord to upload photos from my camera to my computer are somewhere in our storage unit and not in a box labeled sub-lease....oops.

That means I can only charge my phone while we are out and about AND that I have to load all of our photos onto Jeremy's computer which goes with him to class, so can that be my excuse for not blogging?

Did you notice my list of essentials above included my sewing machine, fabric and craft supplies? Those feel like essentials to me. What I am I going to do while Jeremy is learning Greek? I carefully poured through my fabric and craft supplies setting aside what seemed essential for the summer. I knew I could not bring them all to our sub-lease. My mind must have drifted off into some sort of creative nirvana while I was packing because I completely forgot to label the box SUB-LEASE. Horror upon horror!

Since I haven't been doing a whole lot of crafting or sewing lately, I have been cooking more, we are an official student family, so cooking more at home is a must if we hope to do things like pay our rent and utilities, right? One of our new favorites was a dish I made for Father's Day, from Barefoot Contessa's Back to Basics. Thanks Glenn and Kelly for the book and thanks Ina for having such delicious recipes that make me feel like a chef.

Since we are on the subject of Father's Day, I would really like to share this photo of Jeremy (an awesome father and greek student) driving a tractor back in Texas-can you see the girls in the background?

and another one of him doing one of his favorite things-fueling up.

It is one of my favorite thing too.

Okay, the first post after a little break is always the hardest one to write isn't it?

So glad to hear from you! And glad you made it to St. Louis. Love the family photo. Fabric is definitely an essential, and I'm so sorry you don't have yours. I haven't sewn in a couple of months, and I have my fabric. Craft-night sounds so fun- I've thought about starting my own. We have been channeling our creativeness into cooking as well. And I also left my phone charger in Texas. Miss y'all and can't wait to plan a trip to visit!

Cunninghams and Keatons your families should come for a visit to partake of all the completely awesome and free stuff there is to do here. I recommend coming when it is not quite so hot though-only to make the zoo and forest park an even better experience.
