finding my way...

We pulled into St. Louis around 1 am on a Monday morning; I will share more about our actual "kinda" move in another post. Since our arrival we have been trying to find our way around here.

Finding my way around the city has been, well, an adventure to say the least. After repeatedly calling Jeremy (interrupting his conjugating of verbs and declining of nouns) to ask for his help to find my way home, he ordered a GPS device for the van. Thanks, Jeremy, for saving me from my aimless wandering!

I am still figuring out my top choice for grocery shopping. Schnucks? Deirbergs? Aldi's? I miss our HEB on Wooded acres in Waco. We have been here just over two and a half weeks and I not driven past a Hobby Lobby or a Michael's (where are the craft stores?) and I had not seen a Walmart until today! Can you believe that? Locating a Target was easy and required no GPS to get there, thank goodness.

I did get to shop at my dream grocery store last week. I heart you Trader Joe's. You are right across from Target, so that makes it easy. I heart your location too. And I heart that you gave me a free bouquet of flowers in honor of my first time to shop there. And I heart these sunny sunflowers that I picked out.

sunny sunflowers

I already knew the location of Anthropologie, thanks to our trip back in March. I did show some restraint, waiting until Friday to window shop. Window shopping was fun and I found some delightful things in the kitchen section. Unfortunately, since I was just window shopping, I had to leave those things there.

If you have a favorite cook in your life, here are some fun gift ideas to brighten up their kitchen, they are all under $20, so not too bad on the budget.

Every time you measure out a spice....fun!

This can serve two purposes, which in a tight space is pretty essential. Put your freshly purchased Trader Joe's or farmer's market eggs in this dish and it would certainly make whipping up a batch of scrambled eggs a little less mundane feeling. And in the spring, use it to display freshly dyed Easter eggs.

and this dishtowel is just so happy!

Okay friends, the kids are up, and that means it is time to get this day underway.

Have a great weekend!

oooh! i love the measuring spoons! i used to have ceramic measuring spoons from anthro but they broke. actually, there may be one of them in the drawer to the left of the stove. they're white with blue trim. i'm a sucker for that place's more 'affordable' items.

I JUST bought the blue egg crate...I would pick it up every time I went to Anthro for inspiration. I gave in and gave myself a treat. I use it to store my jewelry right now. :) And Trader Joe's is my very favorite store. We had one two blocks from us in New York, and the lines were always crazy long, winding through the whole store and sometimes out onto the sidewalk. But I'd wake up early just to go, to beat the rush. They also have a great wine shop and the 2 Buck Chuck is good.

that dish towel is perfect for my kitchen. i think i might have to make an anthro run this weekend to visit it. :) i have the egg holder in white and love it. we have chickens and so i wanted to get the ladies something pretty to keep their eggs in.

your blog is super cute! i'm so glad you came by mine, so i could find yours. have a happy weekend!

Meghann-and now a third use! Thanks for sharing your idea.

We have heard great things about the 2 Buck Chuck-I forgot to buy it when I went last week, I must still be in the "I just moved here" haze.

We miss HEB too. We don't have a Super Wal-Mart close to us either...that was really weird for me at first, but now it's kind of nice. That's awesome you have a Trader Joe's, and that they gave you flowers. Super cute anthro picks. I love the egg crate; jewelry storage is a great idea Meghann.

i love our GPS. i don't know what i did without it! (it makes finding the nearest starbucks pretty easy too!) with military moves, finding a good grocery store is the toughest thing, second only to finding a good church. but you have an anthro--so fun. i love that egg dish and almost picked it up when i was in NYC last weekend. glad you are getting "settled" and glad you're blogging :)

We have Aldi! I have to admit I hated that store at first because I didn't know what to do. What? I have to bring my own bag and pay 25 cents for a cart? (which by the way you get back if you return the cart, just ways to help save) I am now a fan and everything there is so cheap. I mostly buy my dairy and meat products from them. I am a bit hesitant to buy their other items because of the generic brands. But so far so good on the other stuff. You should check it out. Love the new pics!
