flu, bronchitis and a minor surgery

Sound nice doesn't it? I was laid out for almost a week. Jeremy took on all my duties while I was sick, which included hosting Emma's preschool Valentine's party. Here he is making cookies. In our vast baking experience, we forgot that sugar cookies do indeed spread while they are baking. So the lovely heart shapes morphed into a blob shape. And we were in fact, disappointed at this discovery when he took the blobs out of the oven. However, we providentially were on the speaker phone with Jeremy's mom at the time. She suggested we go back over the blobs with our heart cookie cutter while they were still warm. And, viola, the large blobs turned into adorable hearts and we got to eat the extra.
Jeremy hosted the party complete with perfectly shaped heart cookies. Emma was excited to have her Daddy go to school with her. Apparently the party was a success, her first words when she got home from preschool were, "the party was great, mommy!"

I am much better now, I have been catching up on piles of laundry and papers. Once I recovered, I went to an amazing conference last weekend with some girlfriends.

This past Monday, we took Emma, who has suffered from substantial hearing loss, to get tubes in her ears and her adenoids out. Calming her down after the surgery took longer than the actual procedure. She has been hearing new sounds like birds chirping, water running out of the faucet and the toilet flushing. We are so thankful this is behind us and are still amazed that she could still communicate with us while her hearing was so limited.

saturday

I am taking it easy this weekend, I came down with a fever yesterday. And, how have a I spent my time? Browsing through each and every post on this blog, Craving Anthropologie. I know those who share my love for this store, and like me, do not get to go in one very often, will love this blog. The few times I do get to visit the store in Houston, I quickly become overwhelmed with all of the inspiration and start making a gazillion mental notes of what I want to remember.

I forgot to mention in my last post that I updated my d. reeves design house blog. You can see samples I made with our new products.

Also, we watched a great movie last night, 3:10 to Yuma.

edited: I forgot to mention Jeremy updated our family's blog with Christmas photos, so family take a look.

good morning...

The girls are still asleep, i have had my first cup of coffee, I am good to go.

I just read Ali's most recent blog post. I feel so thankful for the hobby of scrapbooking. I flew to St. Louis on Monday and back on Tuesday, with Lee Ann and Tracey, to be with our dear friend, Amy, whose father passed away last weekend. When we were at the wake, Amy showed me an album she made for her dad just over a year ago. She put together a book documenting his life and loves. It was full of photos and newspaper clippings about her dad and now this book is something their young children can look through for years to come.

It is amazing how much a short trip can teach you. It is good to be back, I am so thankful Jeremy stayed home with the girls so I could go.

oh, I hear the pitter patter of little feet, time to serve breakfast and drink more coffee.

hello again...

Wow, I knew I was going to take a break over the holidays, but I did not know it would be this long! We had a great Christmas with our family. In January, Jeremy finished his first seminary class through RTS and I turned 29 the next day...can I really be this close to 30? It feels weird, never mind that we have 2 kids, a dog, a mortgage and I drive a minivan, I still feel like I am fresh out of college.

Around the house I have been organizing. It is not one of my best skills. I do like the results, but getting there is hard.

The girls are having fun and keeping us entertained.

The other day Emma asked us if she stayed real still would people think she was a decoration.

Love it.

And below are some pictures of Stella in her tights...completely adorable right?

We have also been doing some small updates around the house. Jeremy says turquoise is the new accent color. We have been adding a splash here and there. My camera battery is charging now, when it is finished I will take photos and share them with you.
I have missed catching up with all of you.
